I am deaf, you are all foreigners
A contradiction is a curse, a heavy farce, daily despair

I Put my ear to the mouth of my spouse
And the vibrations go through me like empty air

I am only alive when I suffer and shout
In me there are protests without end

And I don't know what hurts
If its my broken heart or my intestines

Does this seem familiar? How could you know?
Each song of tomorrow's birds enters your house

And you welcome it like a friend
As the sweet sounds seduce you

To be compassionate and tolerant
To be good

Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you particularly liked the tenth line. I almost re-wrote that line!

Yes I have to agree that this is a good write. You must know someone who is deaf. To come up with the associations, you must have known a deaf person. It have a personal feel to it. That is why I say that. I like how deep and personal you get with the poem.
